The new version of the Presidential Active
Lifestyle Award, PALA+, features eight nutritional components in
addition to the physical activity requirements. Each month we will
feature one of these eight healthy eating goals:
1. Make half
your plate fruits and vegetables. 2. Make half the grains you eat
whole grains. 3. Choose fat-free or low-fat (1%) milk, yogurt, or
cheese. 4. Drink water instead of sugary drinks. 5. Choose lean
sources of protein. 6. Compare sodium in foods like soup and frozen
meals and choose foods with less sodium. 7. Eat some seafood. 8.
Pay attention to portion size
